New Rescue Truck Housed - Nice Color A new maroon rescue truck has been placed into service and it is not at Springfield Fire Company. The Rockland Hook and Ladder Company in Spring Valley, New York (Rockland County) held their traditional "Wet Down" for their 2002 American LaFrance Rescue Truck, also known as 17 Rescue. The unique color of their rescue truck was inspired by a trip to the Harrisburg Fire Expo in May 2000. It was there that members of the Rescue Truck Committee saw Springfield's Tower 44 on display. They liked the color so much that they wanted to paint their new rescue truck the same color. After some phone calls to representatives from American LaFrance Corp, Sutphen Corp. and Springfield Fire Company, the correct color match was obtained for their new rescue truck. Four Firefighters from Springfield Fire Company traveled to Spring Valley, New York on Saturday, August 17th, to participate in the Building Dedication and Wet Down at Rockland Hook and Ladder Company. The Company moved into their new firehouse last year after many hours of work by the membership to convert an old Bank Building into their new home. 17 Rescue was placed into service in May 2002 and the "Wet Down" is their official ceremony to dedicate a new piece of fire apparatus. Springfield Fire Company would like to wish the members of Rockland Hook and Ladder Company and Spring Valley Fire Department the very best with 17 Rescue. The hospitality and brotherhood that was shown to our members during their visit was outstanding. The truck looks great, especially the color. Keep it safe. |
