Engine 44-1 Back In Service

Springfield Fire Company placed Engine 44-1 back in service on Saturday, August 31st.  Engine 44-1 had been out of service since July 20th, when it was stuck by a vehicle while operating at a brush fire at E.T. Richardson Middle School.

Engine 44-1 had to return to the Sutphen Corporation in Columbus, OH to have the repair work completed.  Two members of Springfield Fire Company drove the unit to Columbus, OH days after the accident occurred.  Once the repair work was completed, an inspection was made by Fire Company personnel at the factory. On Monday, August 26th, Engine 44-1 was driven back to Station 44 by Fire Company members.

Engine 44-1 was placed back into service after firefighters worked to restore all the equipment and hose that had to be taken off the apparatus before the trip to the Sutphen Corporation.

Springfield Fire Company would like to thank the neighboring fire companies that provided the additional coverage that was needed during the out of service time of Engine 44-1.
