Assist to Clifton Heights at Old Yarn Mill Fire

Springfield Fire Company assisted Clifton Heights (Company 03) on Monday, November 18th, at 08:11 hours for a Structure Fire at 556 East Baltimore Avenue (Old Yarn Mill).

Chief 03-9 was the first unit on scene and had smoke showing from the second floor stair tower.  Chief 03-9 established command and had Engine 74-1(Primos Secane) stand-by the hydrant at Baltimore Pike and New Street.   Quint 03 laid a 5" Supply Line into the scene and Engine 44-1 proceeded up New Street and positioned behind Quint 03.

Engine 44-1 assisted firefighters from Quint 03 and Engine 74-1 with quickly locating the fire and extinguishment.  The fire was contained to an area of the floor on the second level.  Firefighters from Lansdowne Fire Company (Company 19) assisted with overhauling the area.

The fire is under investigation.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 10:02 hours.

Companies operating on the scene were:  Company 03, Company 74, Company 19, Company 44, Company 06 (Collingdale), Medic 103-7B DCMH Hospital) and Clifton Heights Police.
