Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Friday, December 20th, at 18:53 hours to 131 Springton Lake Road, Upper Providence on the Second Alarm for a House Fire.

Tower 44 and Rescue 44 responded and assisted with manpower on scene.  Heavy fire was showing from the rear of the 2 1/2 story dwelling and firefighters were working to gain control of the fast moving fire.

Companies working on the scene included:  Company 73 (Rose Tree), Company 23 (Media), Company 41 (Newtown Square), Company 44, Company 64 (Edgmont), Company 52 (Brookhaven Air Bank) and Ambulance 69 (Lima).

First Alarm companies started an interior attack and worked to establish a water supply from a hydrant on Bishop Hollow Road at Springton Lake Road.   Firefighters encountered fire on all levels of the structure as well as in the attic space above the attached garage area.

Firefighters performed primary and secondary searches, both were negative.  No residents were home at the time of the fire.

An evacuation signal was given during the fire because of deteriorating conditions.  Firefighters performed an exterior attack and then firefighters reentered the structure to work on final extinguishment.

Firefighters also performed extensive salvage and overhaul operations.

One firefighter from Springfield Fire Company was transported to Riddle Memorial Hospital by Ambulance 69 because of a medical condition.

Firefighters remained on the scene after 23:00 hours.

The fire is under investigation.
