Basement Fire Damages Dwelling Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Monday, December 9th, at 18:59 hours to 153 Sherman Road for a Structure Fire. Upon arrival of 44-12A, heavy smoke was showing from inside the residence. Engine 44-1 arrived on the scene and proceeded into the basement and had fire in the heater area of the basement. Engine 44-1 went in service with an 1 3/4" hoseline. Chief 44-9 established command and had Company 03 (Clifton Heights) dispatched for Quint 03. Tower 44 positioned in front of the building and assisted with the interior crews and ventilation. Engine 44-2, Rescue 44 and Quint 03 assisted with manpower on the scene. The fire was quickly brought under control. Damage was extensive in the basement area. One resident was transported to Riddle Memorial Hospital by Ambulance 44-7A for observation. The fire is under investigation. Firefighters remained on the scene until 21:14 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-1, Engine 44-2, Tower 44, Rescue 44, Quint 03, Ambulance 44-7 & 7A, Medic 1037B (DCMH), Springfield Police and Fire Police. |
