Electric Meter Box Catches Fire Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Thursday, December 5th, at 09:47 hours for a Structure Fire at 104 Grandview Road. The homeowner was reporting smoke coming from the Electric Meter Box on the outside of the dwelling. Upon arrival of Engine 44-1, smoke was showing from the meter box on Side "D" of the structure. Firefighters from Engine 44-1 shut off the main electric breaker inside the home and monitored the structure with Thermal Imaging Cameras until PECO arrived and shut off the main power supply to the meter box . Once power was shut off and PECO officials checked the meter box for electrical current, firefighters extinguished the remaining fire inside the meter box. Firefighters remained on the scene until 10:48 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-1, Tower 44, Engine 44-2, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Springfield Police and Fire Police. |
