Firefighters Extricate Driver in Head On Crash

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Wednesday, October 23, at 14:12 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Fire in front of 533 East Springfield Road.  Upon arrival of units from Springfield PD and Chief 44-9, two vehicles were involved in a head on crash with no fire and one driver was trapped.   The call was upgraded to a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment.

TAC 44 arrived on the scene and stabilized both vehicles and worked to extricate the driver.  Ambulance 44-7 and Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) provided patient care while the crew of TAC 44 removed the rear door and center post of the vehicle.

The driver was extricated quickly and transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center.  Ambulance 44-7A provided patient care for the second driver and transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center.

Firefighters remained on scene until 14:40 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  TAC 44, Ambulance 44-7, Ambulance 44-7A, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
