Heater Fire Damages Home Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Tuesday, October 15th, at 17:13 hours for a Dwelling Fire at 1024 West Avenue. Upon arrival of initial units from Springfield Fire Company, the homeowner stated that she was having problems with the heater. Firefighters from Engine 44-1 used the Thermal Imaging Camera to check the area around the heater. The homeowner had shutdown the heater prior to the arrival of the fire company. Firefighters checked the heating unit and shut off the power to the unit. Firefighters ventilated the structure and advised the homeowner to have the heating unit checked out. Firefighters remained on the scene until 17:43 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-1, Tower 44, Engine 44-2, Quint 03, Engine 11-1, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
