One Year Ago - We Will Never Forget
Springfield Firefighters remembered the victims and the
fallen heroes of September 11th, 2001 by taking part in several memorial ceremonies.
Springfield Fire Company was on hand for the dedication of
a new memorial to the victims
of September 11th at the Springfield Township Municipal Building (50 Powell Road) on
Tuesday, September 10th. The memorial honors all those who lost their lives during
the tragic events at the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Shanksville, PA.
Firefighters participated in three separate memorial
ceremonies on September 11th. Ceremonies
at the Amvets Post in Morton, PA, Broomall Fire Company, Marple Township, Pa and a
Memorial March in Center City Philadelphia were attended by members of Company 44.
All the ceremonies paid tribute to those lives lost and the fallen heroes who gave of
their lives trying to rescue so many others. The Memorial March in the City of
Philadelphia also paid tribute to all Philadelphia Firefighters that gave the ultimate
sacrifice in the line of duty.
Springfield Firefighter's were also profiled in a Daily Times news article on Wednesday, September 11th about the events
of September 11th and the effect it had on people.
