Fire Company at Polites Florist for Good Neighbor Day

Springfield Fire Company personnel were at Polites Florist on Wednesday, September 4th, for the annual FTD Good Neighbor's Day event.

Beginning at 10am, Polites Florist in Springfield (443 Baltimore Pike) and in Upper Darby (42 Garrett Road), started giving away roses absolutely free to anyone who visited the shops.  The roses were given out in bunches of 12 and Polites Florist planned on handing out 10,000 roses by the end of the day.

There was one catch.  Chris Polites, owner of Polites Florist, hoped that the good will is exactly that, "catching".  Anyone picking up free flowers was asked to promise to keep one for themselves and give the others away to 11 different people.  "In the spirit of giving, I hope to create a more friendlier, caring township, celebrating goodwill towards your Neighbors", states Chris Polites.

The Fire Company was at the Springfield location, along with the Springfield Police Department, in the morning and afternoon talking with local residents and shoppers about fire safety and fire prevention and handing out free fire prevention literature.  Fire hats were provided for any children and the adults that still feel like kids at heart.

Springfield Fire Company would like to thank Chris Polites for the invitation to Good Neighbor's Day event and helping us get the word out about fire safety and fire prevention.  Springfield Fire Company would also like to thank Lori and Diane, employees at the Springfield shop, for their help with this story.  They estimated that 15,000 roses were handed out during the day's event, keep up the great work.
