Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on April 10th, at 22:18 hours to the Springfield Country Club for a Structure Fire.  Upon arrival of initial units from Springfield Police Department, a haze was seen in the main entrance area and the building was evacuated.

Firefighters from Engine 44-1 entered the building and began searching for the cause of the smoke.  Tower 44 was ordered to set-up in the front of the Country Club and check the air handling units on the roof.

The crews from Engine 44-2 and Rescue 44 were ordered to stand-by at the scene during the investigation.

Firefighters found the source of smoke to be an improperly discarded cigarette in the main hallway of Country Club.  The patrons were allowed back into the Country Club to finish their Wednesday night "Oldies Night" event.

Units remained on the scene until 23:18 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Tower, 44, Engine 44-2, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
