Firefighter Keep Busy into the Evening

Springfield Firefighters stayed busy on Friday afternoon and evening, March 8th, after assisting Rose Tree Fire Company (Company 73) on a Working House Fire Friday morning.

Springfield provided stand-by coverage with TAC 44 for Broomall Fire Company (Company 53) until 15:30 hours while members attended the funeral services of Thomas Murray Sr, the father of current Fire Chief Thomas Murray Jr. and a Life Member of Broomall Fire Company.

Company 44 was dispatched to assist Swarthmore Fire Company (Company 14) at 15:19 hours at 801 Yale Avenue.  Company 14 had a kitchen fire on the sixth floor of the Strath Haven Condominiums and needed assistance with ventilation.  Tower 44 and TAC 44 assisted at the scene.

Company 44 was dispatched at 17:23 hours for a Motor Vehicle Accident in front of Springfield High School.  The five vehicle accident involved a motorcycle.  Firefighters assisted EMS with the operator of the motorcycle who had received multiple injuries.  Springfield Fire Police directed traffic around the scene during the incident.

Springfield Firefighters were again dispatched at 20:50 hours to 530 West Woodland Avenue for a Motor Vehicle Accident.  Firefighters assisted at the scene with stabilization and checked both vehicles for hazards.   Firefighter had to pry back a door on one of the vehicles to assist EMS with the removal of one patient.

Just a busy end to a busy morning for the firefighters of Company 44.
