Netherlands Firefighters Photograph Springfield Apparatus

On Monday, May 14th, two firefighters from the Netherlands visited Springfield Fire Company as part of a two week vacation in the United States.

Michel Voogd and Rene Hermans from the Rotterdam Fire Department, Netherlands, were visiting over 60 fire departments in 5 different states to photograph fire apparatus.  Their trip started out when they arrived at Newark Airport, New Jersey on Wednesday, May 9th.   Their two week trip included stops in the following areas: New York City, Central and Southern New Jersey, Philadelphia, Wilmington, Southeastern Pennsylvania, Lancaster, Pittsburgh, Central Maryland, Baltimore and Washington DC.

Michel and Rene have taken thousands of pictures of fire apparatus in Europe and were very excited to be in the United States to see the different American made apparatus and meet fellow firefighters along the way.   Springfield Fire Company was happy to help Michel and Rene and wish them a safe return to Vlaardingen, Rotterdam.
