On Saturday, November 17th, 18 members of the Springfield Fire Company attended the memorial mass of Leonard "Lenny" Ragaglia, of Engine Company 54 (Manhattan).  Firefighter Ragaglia, age 36, gave the ultimate sacrifice along with 342 of his fellow firefighters from the Fire Department of New York City on September 11th, 2001 while operating on Box Alarm# 8087, the scene of the World Trade Center Tragedy.

The memorial mass was at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Staten Island.  The service was well attended by members of FDNY and firefighters from across the nation.  His memorial service was one of thirteen services being held on Saturday.

After the memorial service the members of Springfield Fire Company headed to the firehouse of Rescue Company 5 and Engine Company 160 in Staten Island.  During this visit members offered their condolences and talked with our fellow brothers of FDNY.  During this visit a check was presented to the members of Rescue Company 5 for the fund raising money that was collected during our "Fill the Boot" campaign.  The firefighters were very thankful for the show of support and care.  A very fitting end to our "Fill the Boot" Campaign.

The members of Springfield Fire Company then traveled to Lower Manhattan, the site of the World Trade Center, to pay their respects to all the emergency workers that gave their lives to save the lives of others.

The Springfield Fire Company and our fellow firefighters in FDNY would like to thank everyone that helped with our fund raising campaign and assisted with our trip to New York City:
