Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Thursday, July 27th at 09:26 hours to assist Media Fire Company (Company 23) on a Working Building Fire at 420 East Baltimore Pike, Media Boro.

Tower 44 and Engine 44-2 assisted at the scene of a three story mixed occupancy building with fire on the third floor.  Chief 23-9A had Tower 44 set-up in the rear of the building and ladder the roof for ventilation.   Engine 51-1 established water supply in the rear of the building while firefighters from Company 23, Company 73 (Rose Tree Fire Company) and Company 69 (Lima Fire Company) had made a quick attack on the fire in the third floor apartment.  Command (Chief 23-9A) had the firefighters on the roof stop vertical ventilation operations when firefighters inside reported the fire was under control.  The fire was contained to the third floor area with minor smoke and water damage to the second floor.

Firefighters performed salvage operations and checked for possible fire extension.  Overhaul operations were delayed until fire investigators finished checking the fire scene.

Units from Springfield Fire Company remained on the scene until 12:00 hours.

Companies operating at scene were: Media Fire Company (23), Rose Tree Fire Company (73), Lime Fire Company (69), South Media Fire Company (51), Springfield Fire Company (44), Brookhaven Fire Company (52), Newtown Square Fire Company - Rapid Intervention Team (41) and Riddle Memorial Hospital Paramedics.
