Vehicle Fire Damages Chapman
Service Garage Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Thursday, August 16th, at 19:32 hours to 321 Baltimore Pike, Chapman Lincoln-Mercury Service Garage, for a Vehicle Fire inside the Building. Upon arrival of Company 44 Chief Officers, smoke was showing from the Service Garage area and heavy fire was showing in the rear of the garage area. Firefighters from Engine 44-1 made an agressive interior attack on the vehicle fire inside the structure with an 1 3/4" hoseline. Firefighters from Engine 44-1 also ventilated the service garage windows and laddered the roof. Tower 44 positioned in the driveway behind Engine 44-1 and firefighters laddered the building and started ventilating the roof of the garage using the skylights. Engine 44-2 laid a 5" supply line from the hydrant at Baltimore Pike and South Norwinden Drive into the fire scene. Firefighters were able to quickly control the fire inside the service garage area. Positive pressure ventilation was used to ventilate the structure. The vehicle sustained heavy damage while damage to the structure was minimial. Firefighters remained on the scene until 21:00 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-1, Tower 44, Engine 44-2, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7 and 44-7A, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police, and Springfield Township Fire Marshal. |
