Springfield Fire Company was dispatched for Tower 44 on Sunday, March 25th, at 07:36 hours, to 344 State Road, Upper Providence Township to assist Rose Tree Fire Company (Company 73) and Media Fire Company (Company 23) on a Structure Fire.  Upon arrival of Chief Officer's from Company 73, it was determined that Tower 44 would be needed to assist in handling a Chimney Fire at the scene.

Upon arrival of Tower 44, the apparatus was positioned in the driveway of the residence to gain access to the free standing344stateroad-up-1.jpg (210845 bytes) Chimney on Side B of the structure.  A Chimney Chain was lowered by firefighters inside the Bucket of Tower 44 and was successful in dislodging the ash build-up inside the chimney.  The use of the Tower provided for a safe operation as the chimney was in poor condition and would not be able to handle the weight of grounds ladders positioned against it.

All units cleared from the scene at 08:40 hours.

Units operating at the scene were:  Engine 73-2, Rescue 73, Tower 44, Squirt 23, Engine 23-2.
