Dryer Fire Damages Basement of Residence

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Sunday, May 13th, at 16:10 hours for a Structure Fire at 169 Rambling Way.  Upon arrival of 44-9B, heavy smoke was showing inside the house and the residents were reporting a dryer fire in the basement.

Crews from Engine 44-1 went in service with a 1 3/4" hoseline and controlled the fire in the basement and started checking for extension in the basement.  Crews from Tower 44, Engine 44-2 and Rescue 44 provided ventilation and checked for extension on the first floor of the dwelling.

Damage to dwelling was minor because of the quick action of the homeowner to call 911 and the excellent work of firefighters.

Firefighters performed salvage and overhaul operations in the basement area.  Crews remained on the scene until 17:10 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Tower 44, Engine 44-2, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Springfield Police and Fire Police.
