A Busy Year Comes to an End

The last week of 1999 was a quiet one for the Members of Springfield Fire Company, unlike the rest of the year.  With 975 total incidents for 1999 (Run Statistics), the year was the busiest ever for Springfield Fire Company.

The Members started off the holiday week on Christmas Eve with the Annual Santa Trip.  Assisting Santa Claus throughout the town just before his busy night, visiting the homes of Springfield Fire Company members, has been an annual tradition for many years.  Engine 44-1, Rescue 44 and numerous Fire Company members assisted with this year's trip, making the last Santa Trip of the millenium another good time to remember.

As the Year 2000 approached, Springfield Fire Company was prepared for any emergency that might arise from Y2K by having crews standing by at the firehouse for the entire night.  As the clock stuck midnight, the lights stayed on, the fire trucks still started and the computers still worked.  Another crisis avoided.

So as the year 2000 has begun, Springfield Fire Company continues to protect the citizens of Springfield Township and will continue to work on the progression of the Company in this new millenium.
