Tower 44 Makes First Rescue

On Monday, 9/06/99, at 11:18 hours, Springfield Fire Company was dispatched along with Springfield Ambulance Corps and Springfield Hospital Paramedic Unit (Medic 106) to a residence in the 100 Block of Locust Avenue for a Subject Stuck on the Roof.

A resident had been working on the roof of his home when he became uncomfortable working on the roof.  Upon arrival of Tower 44 and the medical personnel, the man's situation was evaluated and it was determined that the safest way to bring him down from the roof was to use the Bucket of Tower 44.

With Fire Company and medical personnel on the roof, Tower 44 was moved into position to allow for an easy and safe removal of the homeowner from the roof.  Once on the ground, the homeowner condition was evaluated by medical personnel and no treatment was necessary.  The homeowner and neighbors were very appreciative of the effort of all the organizations involved.  The first rescue for the new Tower 44.
