The New Tower 44
Thursday night May 27, at approximately 19:30 hours, the arrival of the new 1999 Sutphen Aerial Tower at Station 44 was the end of a process that began over two years ago and the beginning of many years of service to Springfield Township and surrounding communities. Replacing the 1978 Sutphen Aerial Tower, the new Tower has a lot of the same features but also has a lot more to offer.
Built by the Sutphen
Corporation of Columbus, Ohio, this Tower features a 95 foot Aerial Tower, 1500 GPM Hale
Mid Ship Pump, 300 Gallons of Water, Hose Bed that carries 500 feet of 5" hose, 2 -
200' 1 3/4" Preconnected Crosslay Hoselines, 15kw Amps Hydraulic Generator, 6 person
crew cab, 152 feet of ground ladders and ample compartment space.
Tower 44 will be placed into service after it
receives all of it's identification lettering and all the members have been
trained in it's operation. The
Vehicle is the second responding unit on all structure fires in Springfield Township and
is the first responding unit to all mutual aid calls to surrounding towns.
