911 CALLS AND DISPATCHING

On March 1st, 1999, the residents of Springfield Township had a change in their 911 call handling and dispatching of Fire and EMS personnel.   After months of planning and cooperation between Springfield Township officials and the Delaware County 911 Center located in Middletown Township, all 911 calls in Springfield Township are now answered by personnel at the Delaware County 911 Center.

When a resident now calls 911, an Emergency Call Taker will answer the call, determine the nature of the call and then forward the call to the proper dispatching personnel.  When they receive a call for a Fire or Medical Emergency in Springfield Township they will process the call and forward it to a Trained Fire and Medical Dispatcher at the 911 Center.  This Dispatcher will then dispatch the appropriate units to handle the emergency and monitor the situation until it is under control.  If the call is for a Police Emergency, the call is forwarded to the Dispatcher located at the Springfield Police Station (50 Powell Road) and the appropriate units are dispatched to handle the emergency.

To report any Non-Emergency Police matter in Springfield Township the residents should call 610-544-1100.  For all Emergencies, residents are reminded that the number is 911.
