New Air Packs Ordered

The MSA Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA through their local sales distributor, Fire Rescue Products, will be responsible for the replacement of all the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (S.C.B.A) equipment utilized by Springfield Fire Company.  The current MSA 4500 Custom II style S.C.B.A.'s will be updated with the new MSA MMR Extreme S.C.B.A.

In all, 42 new MSA MMR Blank Rhino S.C.B.A. will be delivered in late June of 1999.  The S.C.B.A.'s will have 30 minute, 4500psi Carbon Fiber Composite cylinders, integrated P.A.S.S. (Personal Alert Safety System) devices, redundant low-air warning systems and quick-connect refill adapters.  Six S.C.B.A.'s will have the "Dual Purpose" System installed on them.  This will allow the firefighter to wear the S.C.B.A. and be hooked up to a constant air supply line.   This feature will be utilized with the air supply system in the Bucket on Tower 44.

All active members of Springfield Fire Company have already been fit tested for the new personnel air masks issued to each active member.
