Car Fire Damages Home

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Tuesday, November 30th, at 11:57 hours to the area behind Blockbuster Video (103 Baltimore Pike) for a reported vehicle fire.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police Department and Fire Chief Woolson (44-9) the location of the fire was changed to 832 North Avenue.  Fire was showing from a vehicle parked under a car port that was connected to the residence.

Chief Woolson upgraded the call to a Dwelling fire and Company 03 (Clifton Heights) and Company 74 (Primos Secane) were dispatched to assist.   Upon arrival of TAC-44, crews went into service with a 1 3/4" Hoseline to control the vehicle fire and stop the spread of fire into the residence.  Engine 74-1 (Primos Secane) laid a 5" water supply line from North Avenue and Bellevue Avenue to the fire scene.  An 1 3/4" Hoseline was pulled off of Engine 74-1 and taken inside the residence.  Crews from Quint 03, Engine 74-1 and Rescue 44 checked for extension and also located the owner's dog inside the residence.

The vehicle was a total loss and the home suffered heat and smoke damage to the porch and kitchen area and heavy smoke damage throughout the residence.
