Storm and Assist Make for Busy Evening

Once again, Springfield Firefighters were kept busy with storm related calls.  Starting around 17:00 hrs on Saturday, August 14, a severe summer storm moved through the Delaware County area and kept many local fire companies busy.  Although the storm was severe, most of the emergency calls in Springfield Township were minor in nature.  This was not the case in Marple Township.810Lorraine.jpg (25426 bytes)

Springfield Fire Company was called at 17:45 hrs. to assist Broomall Fire Company at the scene of a house fire in the 800 Block of Lorraine Drive.  Due to the location of the house and the amount of fire upon arrival of Broomall Fire Company, Springfield Fire Company was called in to assist along with Rose Tree, Bon Air & Newtown Square Fire Companies.  The closest fire hydrant to the scene of the fire was approximately 3700 feet away on Crum Creek Road.  Broomall, Springfield and Rose Tree Fire Companies utilized Large Diameter House (5") to complete the Water Supply to the fire scene.

Springfield Firefighters remained on the scene until 22:30 hrs.  Clifton Heights Fire Company was on Stand-By in Springfield's Firehouse until the Company returned and was back in service.
