Storms Make It a Busy Day
Monday, May 24 was a busy one for the Firefighters of Springfield Fire Company. With severe storms rumbling through the area all day long, the volume of calls was not that large until 18:45 in the evening. When things finally quieted down, Springfield Fire Company had responded to 33 incidents between 10:00a.m and 9:00p.m. With assistance from Broomall, Clifton Heights, Rose Tree and Media Fire Companies, all incidents were handled to the highest professional level.
The most severe damage of the day came when a power surge hit the areas of Maddock Road, Kennerly Road, Sproul Road and Beatty Road. Over 26 houses had to be checked because of electrical problems caused by the electrical surge. The dwelling at 925 Beatty Road suffered the most damage from a fire that ignited after the surge. Responding companies found fire in a first floor bathroom of the two story home and were able to control the fire quickly and save most of the structure from severe damage. Even with all this activity, there were no serious injuries to report and things are getting back to normal in the quiet community of Springfield Township.
Another day handled by the professionals that make up the Springfield Fire Company and surrounded mutual aid companies that continue to work together towards a common goal, protecting the lives and properties of our residents and "Dedicated to Service".
