The Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Friday, March 19, at 19:04 hours to a Structure Fire at 365 Valley View Road.  Upon arrival of the first units, heavy fire was venting from the rear of the one story house.   Crews from Engine 44-1 when into service with an 1 3/4" hoseline to initiate an interior attack.  Originally dispatched as a Structure Fire with possible entrapment, when the first Engine arrived on the scene all residents had been accounted for.  The family's two dogs were still reported missing, and one was located quickly by the crew of 44-1.  The other pet was overcome by the smoke.

With the amount of fire showing upon arrival, Incident Commander Chief Robert Woolson called for the Second Alarm which dispatched the Clifton Heights Fire Company and the Air Unit from Bon Air Fire Company.365Valley1-19.jpg (204513 bytes)

Engine 44-2 laid a 5" Supply Line to Engine 44-1 from Hillview Drive and Valley View Road.  Quint 03 opened up the roof for ventilation.   Rescue 58 assisted with manpower and refilling of air bottles.

Apparatus responding to the incident were: Engine 44-1, 44-2, 44-4, Tower 44, Rescue 44, Quint 03, Engine 03-2, Rescue 58, Ambulance 44-7, 44-7A, Medic 106 and Canteen 60.  The situation was under control and all units were available by 22:04 hours.
