Fire Damages Kitchen
Springfield Fire Company was dispatched to 33 Wayne Avenue, Thursday, October 14 at 18:08 hours for a Structure Fire. Upon arrival of the first responding units from the Police Department, smoke was showing from the structure and fire was visible in the kitchen. Firefighters from Engine 44-1 extinguished the fire and contained it to the kitchen area of the home. The fire was determined to be accidental in nature, starting in the range area of the kitchen.
Damage was extensive to the kitchen area and smoke filled the rest of the residence. Crews from 44-1, Tower 44, Rescue 44 and TAC-44 checked for any fire extension and performed salvage and overhaul operations. Springfield firefighters used the Thermal Imaging Camera to assist with checking for any fire extension, which minimized damage to the structure. One resident was treated at the scene by Springfield Ambulance (44-7) and the Springfield Hospital Paramedic (Medic 106) for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 19:08 hours.
