Fire Damages Home

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched Sunday evening, November 7th, at 17:32 hours for a House Fire at 125 North Norwinden Drive.   Also dispatched on the call was the Clifton Heights Fire Company.  Upon arrival of 44-9B (Deputy Chief Osciak), heavy smoke was showing through out the residence and fire was visible in the kitchen area.

44-9B established Springfield Command and directed the incoming units.  Firefighters from Engine 44-1 used an 1 3/4" hoseline to control the fire on the first floor and proceeded to the second floor along with a crew from Quint 03 (Clifton Heights) to stop the fire from extending into the second floor and attic areas.

The fire damaged the Kitchen and Dining Room area and also a second floor bedroom closet.  Smoke damage was throughout the residence, but water damage was minimal.  The fire appeared to be accidental in nature,   having started in a wall between the Kitchen and Dining Room.  Springfield Township's Fire Marshall was on the scene to investigate.

All the occupants of the home were out prior to the Fire Company's arrival but the family's cat was still inside.  Crews from Springfield Fire Company located the cat in the basement area and removed the cat to the waiting arms of the homeowners.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 19:32 hours, checking for any extension and also overhauling the scene.

Units operating at the scene: Engine 44-1, Engine 44-2, Tower 44, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7, Quint 03, Engine 03-1, Springfield Township Car 1 (Fire Marshall) and the Springfield Police Department.
