Tower 44 was placed into service on Tuesday, August 3rd, 1999. Replacing the 1978 Sutphen Aerial Tower, the new Tower has a lot of the same features but also has a lot more to offer. Built by the Sutphen Corporation of Columbus, Ohio, this Tower features a 95 foot Aerial Tower, 1500 GPM Hale QMAX Single Stage Pump, 300 Gallons of Water, Hose Bed that carries 500 feet of 5" hose, 2 - 200' 1 3/4" Preconnected Crosslay Hoselines, 15kw Amps Hydraulic Generator, 6 person crew cab, 152 feet of ground ladders and ample compartment space. Some of the equipment carried includes: MSA Argus Thermal Imaging Camera, 2 - Homelite Rotary Power Saws, 1 - Homelite Chainsaw, 1 - Cutters Edge Chainsaw, Forcible Entry Equipment, Salvage Equipment, Ventilation Equipment, Stokes Basket, Hydra Ram II Hydraulic Entry Tool, 6 - MSA MMR Extreme Air Masks with Dual Purpose, 6 - Spare 30 Minute Air Cylinders and other miscellaneous equipment. Tower 44 is the second responding unit on all structure fires in Springfield Township and is the first responding unit to all mutual aid calls to surrounding towns.
