New Apparatus Sutphen Corporation of Columbus, Ohio was been awarded the contract for the new heavy rescue. The truck and equipment is being financed through the Springfield Township Firemen's Relief Association Fund. The construction will begin in the fall of 2004 and the delivery of the new apparatus is expected in February/March, 2005. This apparatus will be the replacement piece for the 1991 Pierce Heavy Rescue currently in service. The new rescue will be have seating for six firefighters with compartments located in the crew cab area for some rescue equipment. The truck will be a walk-around style rescue body. Some of the equipment that the truck will be equipped with will be: a 6000 psi Cascade System with a two SCBA air bottle fill-station with booster pump, 2 Onan hydraulic generators, two 6000 watt light towers, two full compliments of hydraulic rescue equipment and high pressure air bags. Information will posted on the construction progress and final delivery. The 1991 Pierce Heavy Rescue will be available for purchase upon delivery of the new rescue truck.
