Accident with Entrapment Handled During Cover Up Assignment

Rescue in 54's Local

 

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Tuesday, February 6th, at 13:46 hours to a Cover-Up Assignment at Station 54 (Lenni Heights Fire Company).  Middletown Township Fire Companies were operating at a Working House Fire on Barren Road in Middletown Township.

Soon after Engine 44-4 and Engine 56-3 (Manoa Fire Company) arrived at Station 54, the Cover Up Assignment was dispatched to Rose Tree Road at Hunting Hill Lane for an Accident with Entrapment.  While responding to the scene units from Company 54 cleared the scene on Barron Road and responded to the accident.  Units arriving on the scene had a one vehicle accident with the vehicle striking a tree head on.  Firefighters from Company 54, Company 44 and Company 56 worked on stabilizing the vehicle and starting extrication operations.  Rescue 45 (Parkside) arrived on the scene and was redirected to the Granite Run Mall parking lot to set up a Landing Zone for Penn Star's medical helicopter.  Squrt 23 (Media) assisted on the scene with manpower.

Firefighters removed the two passenger side doors and the roof of the vehicle to provide for removal of the front seat passenger in the vehicle.  Firefighters assisted EMS crews with patient removal.

Units remained on the scene until 14:30 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Rescue 54, Engine 44-4, Engine 56-3, Rescue 45, Squrt 23, Utility 54, Ambulance 23-7A, Medic 23, Medic 104-7, Medic 104-7D, Medic 104-9, Medic 104 and Pennsylvania State Police.

Springfield Fire Company returned to Station 44 after being released from the scene by Company 54 Command.
