The 1984 Sutphen was one of two purchased by the fire company in 1984.  After building a modern fire station to protect the citizens of Springfield Township in 1981, the membership worked with Township officals to modernize the firefighting apparatus.  In 1984 Springfield Fire Company took delivery of "Twins", the two 1984 Sutphen pumpers.

Engine 44-2 was the third responding apparatus on all structure fires in Springfield Township.  This engine was set-up as a water supply engine, carrying a large amount of 5" large diameter hose.  Some of the features of the unit when it was sold in Decmeber 2008 were:

1500 GPM Hale Mid-Ship Single Stage Pump, 500 Gallon Water Tank, 6 Person Crew Cab, Front Suction / Intake, Hard Suction Hoses for Drafting, 6 Kilowatt Generator, 28' Extension Ladder, 14' Ground / Roof Ladder, 8' Folding / Attic Ladder, 1500' 5" Supply Hose, 500'  3 1/2" Supply Hose, 300' 1 3/4" Preconnected Crosslay Hoseline, 100' 1 3/4" Preconnected Crosslay Hoseline, 2 - 250' 1" Booster Hoseline
