Fire Quickly Contained on Lownes Lane

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched to the Unit Block of Lownes Lane on Wednesday, December 23rd, at 17:04 hours for a Dwelling Fire.  Upon arrival of Springfield Police and Chief 44-9, smoke was showing from a two story single family dwelling.  Residents of the home were reporting a fire inside the laundry room area of the home.

Chief 44-9 established Springfield Command and had Engine 44-1 establish a water supply from the hydrant at Orchard Road and Lownes Lane and place an 1 3/4" hose line into service on the first floor of the dwelling.  Engine 74-2 (Primos-Secane) stood by the hydrant and assisted the crew from Engine 44-1 on the interior.  Fireifghters from Tower 44. Engine 44-4 and Quint 03 (Clifton Heights) assisted with laddering the structure and ventilation.  Rescue 20 (Garrettford-Drexel Hill) stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team.

Firefighters had the fire under control within ten minutes and checked the structure for any fire extension.  The fire was contained to the laundry room area, with the rest of the home sustaining minor smoke damage.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 18:30 hours.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Engine 74-2, Tower 44, Engine 44-4, Quint 03, Rescue 20, Rescue 44, Utility 44, Engine 03-2, Ambulance 44-7, Ambulance 03-7, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
