Bus Fire at the High School

Springfield Firefighters were kept busy on Sunday morning, December 12th around 0830 hours.  While Company 44 units were arriving on the scene at Harlee Manor Nursing Home for a Gas Leak Investigation, County 911 was advising Chief 44-9 that a second emergency was being dispatched for 111 West Leamy Avenue, Springfield High School, for a Bus Fire.

Engine 44-4 was diverted to the second emergency and arrived on location with one bus involved in fire inside the bus parking lot of the High School.  Firefighters from Engine 44-4 forced entry into the lot and placed a hose line into service to contain the fire to the one bus.

The fire was quickly brought under control and only one bus sustained damage from the fire.  The fire is under investigation by Springfield Township Fire Marshal's Office.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-4 and Chief 53-9 (Broomall).
