Vehicle Overturns on State Road

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched just before midnight on Sunday, December 7th, to the intersection of West Springfield Road and State Road for a Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival of Police, Ambulance 44-7 and Chief 44-9B, there was a three vehicle accident with one vehicle on it's side on State Road.
Chief 44-9B had the crew from TAC 44 and Rescue 44 stabilize the one vehicle on it's side using the Junk Yard Dog rescue struts and rescue cribbing. The driver of the vehicle needed to removed from the vehicle so firefighters removed the front windshield and rear window to gain access. Once the driver was accessed by EMS personnel, the driver was packaged and removed from the vehicle. Ambulance 44-7 transported the driver to hospital.
Firefighters checked all the vehicles for any hazards and stood by until the one vehicle was uprighted and removed by the towing company.
Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately one hour.
Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Rescue 44, Ulitily 44, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
