While units from Springfield Fire Company were just clearing a Carbon Monoxide Investigation in Springfield Township, the Box Alarm was being dispatched for the 1000 Block of Providence Road, Upper Providence Township for the Commerical Building Fire.  Upper Providence PD arrived on the scene and reported smoke showing from a two story building.

Chief 73-9 arrived on location confirming a working fire in the basement of a two story Salon and established Upper Providence Command.  Firefighters from Quint 73 (Rose Tree) laid a 5" supply line into the scene and Tower 44 took a position in front of the building on Providence Road.  Firefighters from Quint 73 and Tower 44 advanced an 1 3/4" hose line into the basement while additional Firefighters from Tower 44 and Squrt 23 (Media) laddered the exterior of the building, ventilated the basement windows and secured a secondary egress point into the basement.  Another 1 3/4" hose line was stretched from Tower 44 to the "D" side of the building as a back-up line.

Firefighters had the fire contained to the basement area of the building in the area of a dryer.  Firefighters ventilated the structure amd checked for fire extention in the basement area.  Firefighters from Company 51 (South Media), Company 41 (Newtown Square), Company 53 (Broomall-RIT) and Company 52 (Brookhaven) assisted on the scene.

Firefighters from Company 44 remained on the scene until 1100.
