Thanksgiving Day Fire in Upper Providence

On Thursday, November 25th, just as many people were sitting down to a nice Thanksgiving dinner, Springfield Fire Company was dispatched, along with Companies 73 (Rose Tree), 23 (Media), 41 (Newtown Square) and RIT 53 (Broomall), on the Box Alarm assignment to the 100 Block of Old State Road, Upper Providence Towhship for a House Fire.  Upon arrival of intital units, smoke was showing from a two story single family dwelling.

Firefighters had fire in the basement of the dwelling and was spreading up the walls of the home.  Tower 44 took a position in front of the home and personnel worked to open walls and ceiling in the first and second floors of the home.  Additional Firefighters from Company 44 assisted on the scene.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control after extensive overhaul operations to check for fire extension throughout the residence.

Springfield Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately 2 hours before being released by Company 73 Command.
