Attic Fire Contained on School Lane

Springfield Firefighters were dispatched to the 200 Block of School Lane on Monday, November 22nd at 2156 hours for the Dwelling Fire. Upon arrival of Chief 44-9B, smoke was showing from the attic area of a two story single family dwelling and advised Engine 44-1 to establish a water supply on the way into the scene. Chief 44-9 established Springfield Command and Chief 44-9A had the Interior Division.
Engine 44-1 placed an 1 3/4" hose line into service for fire in the attic area of the residence. Firefighters from Tower 44 placed ground ladders to the attic area to help with ventilation of the attic space. Firefighters from Rescue 20 (Garrettford-Drexel Hill) stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team on the fireground. Additional personnel from Engine 44-4 and Rescue 44 assisted with manpower and salvage operations inside the residence.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire in the attic area and worked to limit damage to the residence with extensive salvage operations. The fire was concentrated in the area of the ceiling above a second floor bathroom and is under investigation by Springfield Township Fire Marshal's Office.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 1157 hours. Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-1, Tower 44, Engine 44-4, Rescue 44, Rescue 20 (RIT), Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital), Springfield Police and Fire Police.
