Vehicle Hangs Off Bridge on I-476

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched along with Broomall Fire Company (Company 53) on Saturday, November 7th, at 13:22 hours, to I-476 Southbound at Mile Marker 5.0 for a Fuel Spill. Upon arrival of Chief 53-9A and Engine 44-4, Pennsylvania State Police were on scene with a single vehicle accident and the vehicle was hanging over the bridge over Route 1. The driver of the vehicle was not injured during the incident and was able to walk out of the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived.
Firefighters from Engine 44-4 and Rescue 53 spread oil dry and stood by with a hose line until the vehicle was removed from atop the jersey barrier. The tow truck company was able to remove the vehicle without compromising the fuel tank on the vehicle.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 15:22 hours.
Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-4, Rescue 53, Traffic 53 and Pennsylvania State Police.
