Kitchen Fire on Kennerly Road

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Sunday, November 1st, at 05:21 hours to the 500 Block of Kennerly Road for a Dwelling Fire.  Upon arrival of Chief 44-9B and Springfield Police, smoke was showing from the residence and the owner was reporting a fire in the kitchen.

Engine 44-1 arrived on location and placed an 1 3/4" hose line into service and quickly contained the fire to the kitchen cabinet area around a microwave oven.  Firefighters from Tower 44 assisted the crew from Engine 44-1 with ventilation and checking for any fire extension.  The fire was contained to the kitchen area.

Firefighters from Snorkel 23 (Media) stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team.  Engine 14-1 (Swarthmore) assisted on the incident.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 06:36 hours.

The fire is under investigation by Springfield Township Fire Marshal's Office.

Units operating on the scene were:  Engine 44-1, Tower 44, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Snorkel 23, Engine 14-1, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
