On Saturday, November 1st a dream became reality at Rose Tree Park. With the clear blue sky and the calm, sunny weather blessing the days events, members throughout the Delaware County Fire and EMS services community converged on the Park for one common purpose, to dedicate a lasting memorial to those brave responders who gave the supreme sacrifice in the Line of Duty.
The Delaware County Fallen Firefighters and EMS Memorial was dedicated on the piece of ground where members from Fire and EMS Companies from around the County had labored along side many skilled craftmans for 5 months to construct the Memorial that pays tribute to all who served the citizens of Delaware County and those who lost their lives protecting their fellow citizens.
The Memorial also gives family members and friends a quiet place to come and remember and pay their respects to their love ones that were lost. The Memorial is situated next to the Fallen Police Officers memorial. The Memorials are connected by a common walkway showing the bond that is shared between all emergency responders who serve and protect the citizens of Delaware County.
As an even more fitting tribute during the Memorial dedication, a bald eagle was spotted soaring above the Memorial during the dedication ceremony. Delaware County's Fallen Firefighter and EMS Memorial has become a reality because of the men and women who continue to serve and protect the citizens of Delaware County, and who will always remember those who lost their lives in the Line of Duty.
