Basement Fire on Lownes Lane

| Springfield Fire Company was dispatched to the report of a Dwelling Fire at 1430 hours on Friday, October 8th, in the Unit Block of Lownes Lane.
Engine 44-4 arrived on location with smoke showing from the first floor of a two story single family dwelling. The homeowner was advising Firefighters that there was a fire in the basement of the home. Firefighters from Engine 44-4 advanced an 1 3/4 hose line into the basement.
Tower 44 arrived on location and established Springfield Command and had Quint 03 lay a 5" supply line into the scene. Basement Division advised Command that the fire was contained to one room in the basement and that ventliation was needed. Firefighters from Tower 44, Squad 44, Rescue 44 and Quint 03 ventilated the basement windows on the "D" side of dwelling and set-up mechanical ventilation.
Firefighters from Rescue 20 (Garrettford-Drexel Hill) stood by as RIT during the incident. EMS personnel from Ambulance 44-7 and Medic 106 checked the home owner and stood by on the scene.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 1600 hours. The fire is under investigation by Springfield Township's Fire Marshal Office.
