Vehicle Crash in Shopping Center Parking Lot

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Saturday, February 24th, at 10:38 hours to 1001 Baltimore Pike (Springfield Square South Shopping Center) for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. Upon arrival of TAC 44, one vehicle was resting on the front hoods of three vehicles with the occupants still inside the vehicle. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle using the JunkYard Dog rescue struts and additional rescue cribbing.
Firefighters and EMS personnel from Ambulance 44-7 evaluated the occupants of the vehicle, who were uninjured during the accident. Firefighters assisted the with removing the occupants of the vehicle thru the drivers side door.
The vehicle operator had lost control of the vehicle after striking a pedestrian in the parking lot of the shopping center and damaged 5 parked vehicles in the parking lot before coming to rest on three of the vehicles. The pedestrian was evaluated by EMS personnel on the scene and had only minor injuries.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:38 hours.
Units operating on the scene were: TAC 44, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
