Springfield Fire Company took delivery of the newest addition to the apparatus fleet on Saturday, September 12th. The 2009 Sutphen Rescue/Pumper replaces the 1999 Sutphen Rescue/Pumper that was sold back in December, 2008.
The new apparatus will have the designation of Squad 44 and will be placed into service within the next two months. Members will be mounting equipment and receiving training on the operation of the pump and foam system prior to being placed into service. Some of the features of the new unit are: 1500 GPM Hale Pump, 600 gallon water tank, 30 gallon foam tank, 10kw generator, front mounted winch, top mounted light tower, crew seating for 6 personnel and pumper mounted front discharge.
Squad 44 will be the first responding unit on all motor vehicle accidents, vehicle fires, brush and trash fires and incidents on Interstate 476.
