Vehicle Fire at Middle School

On Monday, August 30th, at 1844 hours, Springfield Fire Company was dispatched to E.T.Richardson Middle School (20 West Woodland Avenue) for a Vehicle Fire. Upon arrival of Springfield PD and Chief 44-9, there was a sport utility vehicle well involved with fire in front of the gymnasium.
Squad 44 arrived on location and went into service an 1 3/4 hose line. Firefighters from Engine 44-4 assisted the crew from Squad 44. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, but the vehicle was a total loss.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 1914 hours.
Units operating on the scene were: Squad 44, Engine 44-4, Ambulance 44-7, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
