Dwelling Fire During Cover Up Assignment

Springfield Fire Company provided stand by coverage at Station 53 (Broomall) on Saturday, August 23rd, from 18:00 hours to 24:00 hours while their members attended their annual family picnic at Rose Tree Woods Swim Club. During the cover up detail, Springfield Firefighters were dispatched at 19:13 hours with Company 41 (Newtown Square) to 807 Ellis Avenue in Newtown Township for a Dwelling Fire.
Upon arrival of initial units, the residence was filled with smoke from a small fire inside the oven that was under control upon arrival. Firefighters from Engine 44-4 assisted with a thermal imaging camera to make sure that there was no fire extension and provided ventilation to the residence.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 19:43 hours. Engine 44-4 returned to Station 53 and continued to provide stand by coverage until 24:00 hours.
