Summer Storms Roll Thru Once Again
|
Just as Tuesday night training was starting on August 18th, Springfield Firefighters were interrupted by severe storms that were once again rolling thru the Delaware County area. The summer storm lasted for about an hour and Springfield Firefighters responded on 6 different calls for service caused by the storm.
One call had firefighters from Springfield, along with Rutledge (Company 13) and Morton (Company 11), securing an area on Providence Road in the area of the Kohl's Department Store. A primary PECO Energy power line had fallen down and stayed energized. The downed wire starting burning the asphalt roadway surface before PECO Energy personnel arrived on the scene and secured the power.
Once the power was secured, firefighters extinguished the fire on the roadway.
Springfield Fire Company would like to remind residents, especially during summer storms, to stay away from downed trees and power lines and to contact 911 immediately. Your safety is our primary concern.
