Accident Confines One on Springfield Road

Springfield Firefighters were alerted to a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment on Monday, August 10th, at 09:16 hours, at the intersection of East Springfield Road and Powell Road. Chief 44-9 arrived on location and had a three vehicle accident with one driver confined inside one vehicle and another driver with minor injuries.
Engine 44-4 arrived on location and stabilized the vehicles and set-up for removal of the driver's side door on one vehicle. Firefighters from Rescue 44 assisted the crew from Engine 44-4. Firefighters used the Holmatro Rescue Tools to remove the door. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, but was evaluated by EMS personnel from Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) and Medic 75-7 (Briarcliffe).
Firefighters assisted EMS personnel from Medic 75-7 with removing the injured driver in another vehicle. Firefighters on Utility 44 assisted Springfield Police and Fire Police with traffic control.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 09:46 hours.
Units operating on the scene were: Engine 44-4, Rescue 44, Utility 44, Medic 106-9, Medic 75-7, Springfield Police and FIre Police. Rescue 43 (Holmes) was returned by Springfield Command once the incident was under control.
