Fire Company Participates in National Night Out
|
Springfield Fire Company participated in the National Night Out hosted by the Springfield Police Department on Tuesday, August 3rd, at the Springfield Country Club. Members showed off apparatus, helped with cooking and many other activities. A number of local businesses also helped to make this night a success. The National Night Out initiative was started in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch to bring awareness and strengthen participation in local anticrime efforts. Participation in the annual event grew from 2.5 million people in 1984 to more than 35.4 million last year. This event is designed to generate support for and strengthen participation in local anticrime programs, neighborhood spirit, and police-community cooperation. Springfield Fire Company would like to thank our fellow Emergency Responders from the Springfield Police Department for inviting the Fire Company to this great event.
